Hiatus

I had a bit of a hiatus from posting, because I was in Utah for my dear FIL's funeral. Hopefully I'm back on track now.

I was planning on bitter melon last night, since DH was away, but never got to it. So tonight I will have eggplant ocazu, since DH will be back. Not sure when I'll get to use the bitter melon.

Pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe

DH was very late getting home from Lancaster tonight, so I needed something that could hold a bit. I made this recipe and it was quite good. Sauteed some zucchini in butter & garlic to go with it & bob's your uncle - dinner.

Luz's Fish

Tonight I cooked the last of Luz & James's bluefish. I used the steeped fish recipe in Irene Kuo's book. Very nice with the toppings. I also made garlic eggplant and broccoli in black bean sauce, and rice of course.

Spare ribs

Friday night we ate out at Tiffanys (I had a bacon blue cheese burger, but only ate 1/2, and ordered veggies instead of fries) and last night we had leftover pork chops, salad, and purple sweet potatoes.

Tonight, we had spare ribs "barbecued" in the oven, beets, braised celery and TJ's brown rice medley. I made the barbecue sauce using Joy of Cooking's "ferocious barbecue sauce."

Leftovers last night; chicken tonight

Because of BMO practice, we had leftovers last night.  Tonight, it will be chicken of some sort, with beets I think.

I get pretty tired of chicken breast.  It can be so dry and tasteless.  But it is lo-cal and on sale is relatively inexpensive, so we do have it often.

DH was really late getting home.  I made moo goo gai pan with the chicken, leftover rice, and leftover japanese pickles.  Not bad, really.

Ma Po Tofu

Tonight it was ma po tofu, made with age leftover from the party.  As accompaniments, we had bok choy and cauliflower, stir-fried separately, and rice of course.  For dessert - apple crisp.  Yum!
